15s getting ready for Nationals - Monday, July 14, 2008
Keith Caldwell and the Scorpion 15s have extended their season significantly by winning the United States Region 1 Championship for the second time in three years, they are currently training heavily while getting ready for the Nationals.  The Scorpion 15s are facing a challenge drawing National powers Southern California Blues, Slammers (Southern Cal.) and Dallas Texans in the Nationals.  Making the challenge even more daunting is that the team will be without star center midfielder Sam Mewis who will be playing in an engagement with the U17 National Team in Trinidad and top GK Jess Lane (injury).  The team appears up for the challenge. Best of luck to all the players and best wishes to their families, most of whom are making the trip to Little Rock with the team.

Scorpion 15s are Region1 Champions - Tuesday, July 01, 2008
Scorpions 4  Spirit United Gaels 3

For the second time in three years the Scorpion 15 Elites are the Region 1 Champions.  Goals by Chelsea Landon, Melissa Gavin, Jess Clinton and Brittney Blanchette were enough to win the US Region 1 Championship Tuesday morning.  The Scorpion 15s won all 4 games played. Combined with the 5-0 record they achieved at the 2006 Regionals the 15s are now an aggregate 9-0 at the Regionals.  The team, now ranked #2 in the USA, will represent Region 1 in the US Nationals in Arkansas the week of July 21.  Making the accomplishment even more impressive was the team played the final two games without National Team player Sam Mewis who had to attend a National Team camp for selection of the U17 World Cup team and injured GK Jess Lane.  Best wishes to the team at the Nationals.

Mewis Sisters Shine for U17 National Team - Monday, February 11, 2008

Kristie Mewis (U18 Girls) and Samantha Mewis (U15 Elite Girls) have been impressing Scorpions coaches and families since they began in our Junior Academy as 7 and 8 year olds.  Now they're growing up at the National Team level, playing for the U17s as they prepare for the first ever Women's U17 World Cup.

The team recently competed in the Future Stars Tournament in New Zealand.  Both Kristie and Sam had great tournaments, scoring goals and playing key roles in other goals.  The team demolished the locals (Australia and New Zealand) en route to the final match with Germany.  Kristie had two goals, including an 81st minute match-winner, to help the team gain a 3-2 victory.  A summary from US Soccer's website can be found here.
