Ever wondered how some of the world’s most skilful players developed their ability to beat opponents at will and confidence on the ball? How did players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, and Roberto Carlos develop the skills that have taken their game to the highest level?
Futsal has provided these players with the platform to become some of the world’s most technically gifted and exciting players. No other game explores the skill, energy and fitness required to beat players and show the flair, drive and ball manipulation that can leave the opponent standing.
Futsal is the format of Small Sided Football that is recognized and supported by FIFA and UEFA. As a small-sided game, players are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure and in a confined space. As a game it places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness. Players also learn how to both defend and attack from any position of the pitch.
The player benefits are endless.
Futsal Information
Futsal is FIFA's official indoor soccer game which is, essentially, a scaled down version of outdoor soccer played indoors. It is a small sided game (5v5) played on a smaller field (roughly basketball court sized) with a smaller (size 3-4) ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries.
There are no walls in play. This is the game that outdoor soccer players around the globe play when they are indoors to refine and maintain their control skills and touch. It is superior to walled soccer in terms of developing better skills and technique. In traditional American indoor soccer, players regularly whack the ball (and sometimes their bodies) against the boards which can promote improper technique, and too often rewards errant play. In Futsal, players are constantly reminded to play the same quality control game that is required for success in the outdoor game.
Futsal is the only "Official form of Indoor Soccer" as approved by the FIFA.
It is played in all the continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players. Futsal is typically played on a gymnasium floor, although it can be played on a variety of surfaces.
The game of Futsal helps motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning. The more enjoyment kids derive from their participation, the more they wish to play and practice on their own. While their instinct to play is natural, their affection and appreciation for soccer must be cultivated. Futsal is a great tool to help build the foundation of skills required for soccer. Our session will consist of twenty minutes technical work with the remainder being used for small sided play within the group:
- Allows players to frequently touch the one "toy" on the field, namely, the ball.
- Creates constant problem solving situations for players
- Promotes tactical understanding as well as being a great skill developer
- Presents many opportunities to score goals and score goals often.
- Encourages regaining possession of the ball as a productive, fun and rewarding part of the game (defending).
- Provides a well organized playing environment with improvised fields.
- Reflects the philosophy of player development expressed within our club.
Allows the game to be the teacher!
