As the 7-0-0 undefeated U14 Region 1 League, North Division winner, Scorpions played the runner up from the South Division, Lower Merion Heart (PAE).  Prior to the playoffs Lower Merion had only conceded three goals in their seven Region 1 games.  Scorpions scored two goals in the first half, Lower Merion scored two quick goals late in the first half to even the score.  On a roll in the second half, Scorpions scored three more goals, ending the game as 5-2 winners.  McKenzie Meehan (2), Lauren Berman, Andie Obrien, and Kendall Andrews were the goal scorers. 

     In the second game Scorpions were matched up with VSA Heat (VA), a team they had never beaten.  VSA is a strong, fast, talented, and highly regarded team.  Scorpions scored a fantastic goal on a through ball from Kenna Garrison to Berman very early in the game.  McKenzie Meehan added another goal in the second half adding to the lead.  The Scorpions defense led by Samm Alves, Ashley Harwood, Meg James, Madison Meehan, Mikayla Williams, and GK Bridget Conway kept the outstanding VSA team under control.

     Madison Brosler, Jill Clapp, Courtney Maguire, Molly McDonough, Leah Noonan, Brooke Sweeney, and Sarah Warjas all played well in both games.   

     The Region 1 League Championship places the Scorpions into the 2009 Region 1 Championship in Barboursville, West Virginia, July 2-7, as the Region 1 League representative regardless of the result of the Massachusetts State Cup (Championship weekend June 13/14).
