This tournament is designed for the teams with a higher level of play to compete against one another to win the State Cup Title for their age. From there they go on to represent the state at the Region I Tournament to compete for the chance to make it to the National Championships.
State Cup: This will still be a round robin tournament. Games dates will stay as is: the first three weekends of May will be the dates for the round robin. As of now the game site for the round robin will be at the NEAC in Pembroke. The final games being held on May 31 at the Continental Recreational fields in Londonderry. It was determined this year to still offer the U12 8v8 teams at the State Cup level only. They will not leave the state. Future entry on regional play will be based on the geography of the tournament. U12 11v11 will move on to Regional play. There were some roster changes this year. All teams U16 and above will be eligible to roster 22 players but only any 18 may dress for a given game. There will be fee changes this year. They will be $650 for U12 thru U13 and $750 for U14 and above. The dates for team entry will be January 6, 2009
President’s Cup: This is a new tournament being offered to the mid level competition. It is a National tournament. Teams will compete in a sub-regional round robin tournament on the week end of June 6 & 7 at Citizen’s fields in Lancaster, Mass. The winners of the sub-regional tournament will move on to the Region 1 tournament to be held June 19-21 at Kirkwood Soccer Complex. The winners of that would then move on to the National Championships, July 17-19, site and schedule TBD. The sub-regional tournament that we will compete in will be made up of teams from Maine-NH-VT-Mass. This is a wonderful opportunity for those teams that do not continue on to the Regional Championships in the State Cup. This year we will be offering this to the finalists of the State Cup Championships in the following age groups: U14 Boys and Girls, U15 Boys and Girls, U16 Boys and Girls and U17 Boys and Girls. We will revamp the
State Cup Championships entry form to include the President’s Cup. Those teams that wish to continue on will have to check the box stating that they will participate in the President’s Cup. Teams that enter into this tournament, as with all of the tournaments, will be expected to continue on should they earn that ability to do so. If they do not they will be subject to a $1500.00 fine.
