Re: Summer Fitness Program - Update
CC: Eric Rudland - DOC

This is the 5-year of AAYSA’s summer fitness program. The program was
put in place to give the Girls side of the program the same advantage
that was being received by the boy’s through our Winter fitness program.

The program starts the first Tuesday after the 4th of July and for the
last three years has been run at the fields at WISD and the fields of
Wines Elementary School. The training times are 7:15 to 9:00 pm Tuesday
and Thursday with Saturday training at Wines starting at 7:45 in the
morning.

The training is open to all players 13 and above (U-12 Blue teams are
also invited), the basic format of the program is station training. This
year I have five stations that work on various pieces of fitness,
agility, quickness, and balance. (Drills and actives are varied through
the Summer.) Other gains include team building, team bonding, and one
that was not planned but has become very important. As all age group
attend and do the same workout we become a club – by that I mean that is
that as this is the only activity that we are all (for the training
period) on the same team.

The drills and stations activities are developed by myself based on 30
years of experience in training student-athletes, course work and
continuing education from the National Strength and Conditioning
Association of which I am a member and from coaches and programs soccer
I have been associated with. The programs goals and objectives are
derived from the AAYSA fitness program that I developed, copies can be
found at the office. (I have attached a copy)

This session we have been averaging close to 90 players each session
during the week and 25 on Saturday (this is an optional day or make up
day for the club – with a pick up game after the 90 minutes of work) -
Attendance is taken and information is passed to the coaches upon
request. Player will attend until they start their team training – some
may still attend Saturday training late into August.
