Blackhawks is the competitive program of Scottsdale Soccer. Per gender and age group, there are up to three levels of competitive teams:  Black, Red and White; with Black being the most competitive team. Currently there are about 40 teams, a total exceeding 500 players ages 6 to 17. The league a team chooses to play in will determine where games are played. Most league games are played in the greater Phoenix area. Tournaments are chosen by each team and may require out of state travel.

All Blackhawk teams are assigned a professional trainer who, in conjunction with a team manager, guides the team through their season, which beings in late Summer and ends in the Spring. The team manger's responsibilities are primarily focused on administrative duties. Except in emergency circumstances, all on-field training and coaching is done by the professional trainer.

In addition to registration fees, Blackhawks players pay training, tournament, travel, and uniform fees. The amount of these fees varies from team to team, and is determined at the beginning of each season. The best way to determine if the Blackhawk program is right for you is to attend try-outs and speak with the trainers and coaches on the field.

The Blackhawk program also offers a variety of additional training, some at no cost to the players. Goalkeeping training and College Prep sessions are but two examples of this. All Blackhawks are expected to participate in their age appropriate Summer sessions (FUNdamental Skills, Junior Academy, or Senior Academy).
