On August 22nd, the first ever Kickoff Day was held on the beautiful grounds at Westworld, and was a wildly successful event! The lush green grass of the 19-acre polo facility was lined for soccer as more than 700 Blackhawks tested their skills, scrimmaging with one another on 9 different fields. Meanwhile, parents were busy learning more about their teams and receiving all pertinent information from their trainers, including philosophies and goals for the upcoming season.
Following the action on the pitch, the Kickoff Breakfast was the next destination for families and their soccer players. It was held at Monterra, with a bird's eye view of the fields below, and attended by more than 600 people. While enjoying a hot breakfast, parents and players were able to hear presentations from program leaders, socialize with their teams and create a heartfelt buzz heading into the season. Maybe the best news of all was that funds generated by a silent auction, spirit wear sales and donations will make it possible for more families to receive financial assistance. We can not begin to show enough gratitude to all of the volunteers who gave countless hours of their time and those who saw this event through to its extraordinary completion.
