REFEREE TRAINING

DESCRIPTION:

The Blue Valley Soccer Club (BVSC) sponsors an entry level referee training twice a year and a re-certification training once a year. The entry level referee training is an introductory one day course which provides the initial education necessary to be eligible to referee youth soccer games. The re-certification course is held in conjunction with the entry level course in July/August. This is a five hour refresher course for certified referees. Other entry level and re-certification referee courses are sponsored by other organizations and are held at various locations throughout the year. The http://www.kansasreferee.org/ website will list additional dates and locations for other entry level and re-certification courses.

COURSES OFFERED:

The Entry Level Course is designed for those who are not currently certified as a referee by United States Soccer Federation (USSF).  This entry level training is an introductory one day course (8 hours) which provides the initial education necessary to be eligible to referee youth soccer games.  This training will be held on Saturdays.  Multiple choice examinations will be given throughout the course.  Students must receive a minimum score of 75% to pass this course and become a certified referee.  After successfully completing the course, these students will become USSF certified grade 9 referees.  This allows the referees to officiate any USSF sanctioned match in the United States at any age or competitive level.

The Re-Certification Course is designed for certified USSF grade 9, 8, 7, 6, or 5 referees.  The course is 5 hours in length spanning one day.  Material presented will be compiled by the USSF, the Kansas State Director of Instruction, and instructors in Kansas.  This course will involve material suggested by your local leagues.  After successfully completing the course, the student will be certified at its current grade level for another year.

Students need to pre-register for this training.  They need to sign-up on-line at the Kansas Referee website.  The web address is http://www.kansasreferee.org/ .
