RAINOUT POLICY

RAINOUTS OR RAIN DELAYS – U5 to U8
Each field has a different rain out response that will be outlined below. It is the responsibility of the Field Marshall with consultation from the Instructional Coordinator to make the rain out call. If the fields have been rained on all day and an early rain out can be called, the information will be posted on the CFU website and the Instructional Coordinator will call each Field Marshall. Always check the CFU website first!!! If you have not heard anything for either of these sources call the following rain out hotlines: A lot of the time a rain out line will not give you a definite answer and you must go to the fields to find out. When in doubt, call the Instructional Coordinator!!!
· Red Bug 407-695-7113
· Central Winds 407-327-8951
· Ward Park Check the CFU WebSite
· Shane Kelly Website = http://www.cityofoviedo.net
Go to the Recreation & Parks Home Page.
Any field closings will be posted there in red.
Red Bug – If the lightning indicator is going off, no one is allowed on the fields. This indicator pulls from a 10-mile radius so it could be clear yet the indicator is going off. Keep teams off of the fields until the indicator goes off. Do not automatically call off the games and send home the referees until you are sure that the games will not be able to be played. Referees that show up and hang around to find out if the games are rained out or not will be paid for their time as if they had ref’ed the game. Just because the 6pm games are rained out does not automatically mean that the 7pm games will be rained out.
Central Winds – Call rain out line first. If there is no indication that the fields are closed everyone must travel to the fields. The Central Winds staff have a hand held lightning indicator and will come over and clear the fields if the indicator is going off.
Shane Kelly – Check website for City of Oviedo (above) and the CFU website. If no indication of rain out, go to fields to determine. Typically there will be a field person from the City of Oviedo there to consult with. They do not have a lightning indicator so the Field Marshall must use best judgment if City of Oviedo staff members are not there. Please call Instruction Coordinator to consult before calling games.
Ward Park – Check the CFU website. If there is nothing posted go to the fields. A CFU representative will call the coaches if we know that the fields will be closed before gametime.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If a coach decides to “call” his own game and the teams are able to play, CFU will not reschedule the game for those teams. They must reschedule it themselves during their practice times and on their practice fields. If CFU calls the game due to a rain out, CFU will reschedule the games at a later date.
