FCCA Challenge Soccer Program

The FC Carolina Alliance Challenge Soccer Program is open to all players, genders and abilities between the ages of 8 - 14 years.

After a great season of FCCA recreation soccer, many families find themselves asking about the next step in their child’s development within the FCCA youth soccer structure. The answer is the FCCA Challenge soccer program.

The FCCA Recreation Program is the direct feeder system designed to prepare the soccer player for the more competitive challenge level. The Challenge level is designed for young players who aim to be in a greater competitive environment but are not quite ready for the Classic level.

FCCA Challenge teams are formed at FCCA tryouts in May of each year. New and existing challenge players are given the opportunity to tryout with all of our classic players in their respective age groups.  Based on the talent level as determined by the Challenge Director of Coaching, players are then assigned to teams.

How do I Know if the "FCCA Challenge Program" is for my family?

-Does your child have a desire for an increased competitive program?

-Does your child strive to be a better player?

-Is your child ready to compete with other players who are of the same ability and share the same love for the game?
-Looking for a more challenging competition at practice as well as games?

Program Goal:
The goal of the FCCA Challenge Program is to provide soccer development where a positive and creative learning environment is encouraged and created to prepare the player for the step into Classic soccer. It is only in this environment that young players can learn to love the game of soccer and develop positive habits and attitudes which provide the foundations for soccer excellence.

The FCCA challenge program aims to provide each child with the opportunity to reach his or her potential. FCCA players develop a healthy, active lifestyle while at the same time learn teamwork, responsibility and commitment through the game of soccer in a challenging environment.

Program Leadership

FCCA has built strong relationships with the three academic institutions in our community. Pfeiffer University, UNC Charlotte and Catawba College players and staff provide the backbone of the coaching staff in the FCCA Challenge program.

The FCCA Challenge program provides quality professional coaching and exposure to collegiate soccer players and staff.

Executive Director Shane Carew alongside his Directors of Coaching has assembled one of the finest challenge staff in the region.

“The Challenge program at FCCA is of the highest pedigree. We cater for all levels of the soccer player in our community with a goal to provide a fun, competitive learning environment for our challenge players to prepare them for Classic soccer.”

Program Format
FCCA Challenge soccer players practice two times per week and are encouraged to participate in an extra Speed/Agility and Technique (SAT) class as an extra session. SAT “Classes” are free classes led by professionally trained coaches focusing on three main areas, Speed, Agility and Technique. These three areas are crucial in the development of the modern soccer player.

The SAT program involves a series of training blocks and soccer specific exercises designed to enhance the player’s technique, strength and power. The program looks to increase the player’s quickness, explosiveness, active and reactive speed to be better equipped to keep up with the constant change of direction and pace of the game. All practices and home games are held at Frank Liske Park, North Meck Park, Salisbury Community Park and FCCA affiliated venues.

Travel:
All FCCA Challenge teams compete in the Charlotte Area Youth Soccer League (CAYSL). The CAYSL is a scheduling League that is an extension of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA). CAYSL is the home to over 2,300+ youth soccer players from ages U9-U13, 208 Challenge teams representing over 14 growing Soccer Clubs and Associations.

FCCA Challenge teams participate in two tournaments on average per season at the discretion of the challenge DOC or EDOC.  Details on FCCA SAT classes and FCCA tournaments can be found on the specific links throughout the FCCA website.
