We approached each game as a step in our journey as we continue to grow as individuals and as a team. By the last whistle of the final game, the players knew they had gained some valuable time together both on and off the pitch. They have grown closer and are beginning to understand each other. | Inaugural Super Y Season A Great Success for FC United of Florida - Monday, August 08, 2011 Inaugural Super Y Season A Great Success for FC United of Florida
Palm Coast, Florida –August 5, 2011 - FC United of Florida enters the final month of the regular season of their inaugural year in a great position. All 3 teams fielded by the club are in the top three of their division. The U14’s and U17’s are both currently seated number 2 with the U16’s in 3rd place. The top 2 teams in each division advance to the playoffs. With 4 games remaining, it is entirely possible to see all 3 teams advance.
U17 Coach Josh Braun stated, “I feel that our first year in Super Y has provided players in North Florida a fantastic opportunity to continue to grow as players in a new environment with quality coaching and new perspectives in regards to coaching philosophy and style and new teammates. Players whose goals are to play at as high a level as possible where afforded the platform to take one more step in the direction of their goals and dreams.”
Coach Jeff Branch of the U16’s adds, “Regardless of results, the goal of Super Y was to further the players' enjoyment, developement and knowledge of the game. From that standpoint, our time together has been very successful. As for the rest of the season, I believe our best soccer is ahead of us.” He continues, “The strongest attribute our team has is they have a strong chemistry together. They come together at training and enjoy each other as well as the game. For me personally, I love working with them because they're just a great group of young men on and off the pitch. They've made this a very enjoyable coaching experience and I'd coach them again in a heartbeat.”
These impressive results for the club speak to the desire for great soccer in Northeast Florida. Braun adds, “In the future, I feel that our Super Y program will grow in quality as well as in the number of teams that FC United will have competing under the USL umbrella. FC United is excited that we can continue to live out our mission statement and vision in providing players the structure to play the game at the highest level possible.”

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Embry-Riddle head men’s soccer coach David Gregson has announced the signing of forward Veit Couturier for the 2011 season. Couturier officially signed his letter of intent to play for Embry-Riddle at the ERAU Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony where former men’s soccer standout Paul Buckley was one of three inductees.
“Veit is an exceptional young talent, one whom we expect to make a significant impact on our program in the years to come,” Gregson said. “He is the kind of person and athlete with whom we have built this program and I think he will be a great ambassador for our program both on and of the field. I know he is as excited as we are to get started with the new season.”
Couturier is a German national who gained dual citizenship with the United States and played his final two seasons of high school soccer at Crescent City (Fla.) High School.
