FC United of Florida Teams Have Success at CASL College Showcase
December 5th, 2011

December 2-4, FC United of Florida sent its four elite travel boys soccer teams for U15-19 ages to Raleigh, NC to participate in the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) Boys College Showcase present by Chelsea FC.  This event traditionally selects the top U15-U19 boys soccer teams from around the country and is annually one of the most attended tournaments in the country.  It also is one of the best avenues for potential college athletes to expose themselves to college coaches with over 350 college coaches in attendance.

The U15 Boys Black team led by the staff of Adam Allee, Eric Dutt & Rich Weber secured the club’s first ever CASL Championship at the event.  They went undefeated in competing against teams from Richmond, VA, Knoxville, TN and Raleigh, NC in securing the championship.  This included a thrilling final match victory over the CASL/Raleigh team in which they scored a goal in the final ten seconds to secure the win.

The U16 Boys Black team led by Noah Braun also achieved great success and narrowly missed securing their championship by single goal as a tie breaker in their division.  The U17 Boys Black led by Reg Monsanto and U18 Boys Black led by Micah Clukey also had great success on the field, but even more success in exposing their players to the numerous college coaches in attendance at the matches.  For these older team’s matches, there were often times 25-30 college coaches in attendance with many players laying the foundation to begin communications with these coaches and build a future towards advancing to the next level with the college game.

Players, staff and family members were also exposed to great college campus tours of programs at the University of North Carolina, Duke University and Wake Forrest.  Additionally, they were able to attend the NCAA, Division I Men’s Soccer Championship/College Cup playoff match between the University of North Carolina and St. Mary’s.  North Carolina dominated the match winning 2-0 and earning a spot in the final four.

Additionally, the FC United of Florida Girls Black team (U17) also recently attended the CASL Girls College Showcase which had over 400 teams and 600 college coaches in attendance.  The ladies played strong in their division and several girls were able to make contact with college coaches through their CASL experience as well.

Reg Monsanto, FC United president stated, “You couldn’t ask for a better experience for our players, their families and our staffs.  Everyone was exposed to the highest levels of soccer as well as the opportunities to progress to the next level.  Everything about the tournament and CASL experience was absolutely top-notch and left an impression on those that attended.  The fact that our teams competed, won games and our U15 Boys even a championship were just the proverbial icing on the cake.”

FC United is very proud of all of its players that showed their hard-work and commitment at these nationally competitive events.
