Program starts after Easter thru Fathers Day
- Other than siblings or cousins, no team or coach requests please. Teams are put together in a draft by the age group coaches. The idea is for teams to be competitive. For most age groups the games are on the same time period and field so they will see their friends then. Plus they get to make a lot of new friends!
- Spring Soccer is small-sided games (6v6 or 7v7), fun, low key, no score is kept soccer.
- Generally the season consists of games each weekend, with one age group practice during the week (U6 to U11/12, attendance of which is optional).
- Only the U13/14 and U15/16/17 age groups may practice every week as they have no age group training. All other age groups are only permitted three practices, times and days of their choosing.
- Coaching is minimal, trying to keep substitutions to the quarter.
- We want the kids to get as many touches as possible of the ball, to just play.
- Spring Soccer is a time to try new stuff with no fear of affecting the outcome of the game.
- It's kind of like a beer league, but just kids and no beer!
This year the season begins the weekend of April 14th and runs through the end of school.
Under-4 Coed and Under-5 Co-ed
For this program, there will be an hour long session with a concentration on developing basic soccer skills (dribbling, passing, trapping, scoring) and building confidence on the field with a focus on sportsmanship and team play for the first forty minutes. The participants will also be involved in small sided soccer games for the last twenty minutes of each session.
Players are not assigned to specific teams, rather they are trained as a group so no worries about playing with someone they know.
Players are signed up for specific sessions, see the age group chart on the right.
The sessions will begin on Wednesday evening April 11th, Thursday the 12th and also on Saturday morning April 14th.

Spring Soccer Ground Rules/Team Requests
Please do not make team or player requests. As always, spring teams are put together by the respective age group coachesin a draft at the coaches meeting in March - to field even, competitive teams.

(I repeated that on purpose)
The only exception being siblings or cousins. If sisters or brothers are in the same age group, they will be placed on the same team unless specifically requested otherwise. If you want them to play with a cousin let us know.
U15/16/17 Coed
U15/16/17 Coed is for 9th thru 11th graders. The program worked well for us and the kids have had a blast. No, the girls will not run the boys over and no the boys will not run the girls over. The games worked out pretty well in previous seasons and we expect the same this season. When played it has actually raised the level of technique as players elevate their game away from the physical to the skill aspects. As always, referees will be on hand to keep an eye on things. Teams will play 6v6 plus a keeper on 80 by 55 yard field. There will be requirements on the mix of girls and boys on the field at any given time. We will announce those once we get a sense of the registration balance for the age group.
Competition Ground Rules
U8 to U15/16/17 play will be in leagues with competitive games but no standings or championships. The program is open to both travel and intramural players. Teams are assigned with the intention of having competitive teams.
U8 to U11/12 are only permitted three practices during the season as there will be weekly practices for each age group. The age group training sessions are not mandatory but are available to every player in the age group. These sessions are run by trainers paid by Haverford Soccer Club.
U8 to U11/12 play 5v5 plus a Keeper (that is 6v6 for the math geniuses like me who always have to count fingers to know what 5v5 plus a Keeper means) on a 60 by 40 yard field.
U13/14 Boys and Girls and U15/16/17 Coed play 6v6 plus a Keeper on a 80 by 55 yard field.
Playing Up
Any younger players that want to play in the same age group as their classmates in school, will need to make a special request. We will generally move them up unless there is a serious difference in age.
Travel Players
All Travel players can play in their appropriate age group this season. Travel A players may only play half the game. All Travel players will be spread out evenly across all the teams in the age group, as the object is to create as competitive division as possible.
