US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, ages 4-19, who has a mental or physical disability. The TOPSoccer Coaching Course is designed for both Coaches and Buddies.
The objectives of the class are:
- to help participants learn how to use previous coaching knowledge and experience to work with TOPSoccer players.
- to help participants overcome any trepidation that players with special needs are so different that the coach feels he or she doesn’t have the tools to help them enjoy soccer.
- to instill confidence in those participants who have little or no background in soccer or coaching to realize that they can learn the game and how to coach.
- to help each participant feel that they are prepared to work with TOPSoccer players upon completion of the course.

U6/U8 Youth Module & U10/U12 Youth Module Certificates
In 1996, US Soccer's coaching programs developed a National License that was designed to specifically address the needs and developmental characteristics of players at the U-6 to U-12 ages. Many of us saw this as a long overdue move, eagerly embracing and promoting the concepts, philosophies and teaching methods that are advocated at this course. We quickly refined many of the courses ideas, and subsequently developed modules that will be taught at the State Level. These "State Youth Modules" replaced the 'F' license course.
