Title: Director of Development

As Program Director at the Boys and Girls club of Ridgefield, I have the responsibility of not only providing structure to the clubs everyday activity schedule; but also to provide our members, your children, with hope and opportunities, recognition, clear expectations, and supportive relationships in a safe, fun environment.

To live up to this title and these vast responsibilities, I call upon the experiences that have shaped me over the last 26 years.  It started in Stratford, CT where I was born and raised.  After attending Bunnell High School, I moved on to Eastern Connecticut State University.  After four short years I graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sports & Recreation management.

In addition to the course work, my involvement with the men’s soccer team, working for the athletic department and intramural teams, and the guidance from teachers helped to give me the foundation I needed to enter my career field.  After receiving an outstanding professional’s award, I knew that this was the right career path for me.

While volunteering as a soccer coach for Sterling House Community Center, I caught my first career opportunity with Wakeman Boys and Girls Club for a part time position.  This quickly led to a full time position as interim Basketball Director.   As the position filled, I became assistant Lacrosse Director and Torch Club Advisor, a position I held for 2 years before I moved on to Program Director here in Ridgefield.

During these two years, I was guided by the management, board members, and fellow colleagues, and grew from member of the staff to Boys and Girls Club professional.  This leads me back to today, were I currently hold position of Program Director.  Over this first year I’m still continuing to learn, grow and develop my skills, as I apply my hard work and passion to providing opportunities for children and furthering the mission of the Boys and Girls club.
