Girls' Coach of the Month - July 2007

(Posted: Monday, July 9, 2007) Curtis Holmes is currently the head coach of the San Juan Spirits U11 Girls Blue and U14 Girls White. He has coached both genders in the club for the past 8 years and during this time he has taken one team to the Y-League National Finals.

Boys' Coach of the Month - July 2007

(Posted: Monday, July 9, 2007) Derek Evans is currently the coach of the U17 San Juan

Lightning boys who were semi finalist in Cal North this past year. During his time with San Juan Derek has captured four state titles, four regional appearances and was a National Finalists in 1997. He has trained many MLS and National players including San Juan standouts Pat Ianni, DJ Countess, Kevin Goldthwaite, Steve Cronin and Lee Morrison.

Billy Wiskel (DOC) says: Derek has a tremendous ability to bring success to whatever teams he coaches. Derek has been a significant part of building the San Juan identity as a club with his accomplishments and consistent coaching style.

Coach of the Month - June 2007

Paul Arellanes is currently the head coach of the San Juan Lightning U12 Boys and Head coach of American River College Women's team. He is currently the longest serving coach in San Juan Soccer Club since 1995. During this period he has captured one state cup title and been to the finals three times while coaching both genders in the club.

Billy Wiskel (DOC) says: Paul is one of the anchors to the coaching staff. He has established himself as one of the most respected and loyal coaches in San Juan Soccer Club.
